Please join The Veterans Task Force and Center for Military and Veteran Services for Drexel’s 14th Annual Memorial Day Primer. This campus gathering pays tribute to those who have lost their lives in service and is designed to help us prepare for the nation’s observance of Memorial Day. The program includes the sharing of military history, patriotic music and traditions. This year’s event, entitled, The Michael Strange Foundation: Honoring the Fallen and Healing the Family, features Charles Strange, Gold Star father of Petty Officer 1st Class Michael Strange, 25, of Philadelphia, who died in the August 6, 2011, CH-47 Chinook helicopter crash in Wardak Province, Afghanistan. PO1 Michael Strange was a cryptologist technician assigned to SEAL Team Six in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and had served three tours in Afghanistan. PO1 Michael Strange earned the Purple Heart for his service. PO1 Michael Strange’s family created The Michael Strange Foundation in honor of his life and service; the foundation provides grief support services to our nation’s Gold Star families. A Gold Star family is a family who has lost a loved one in service to our country in a time of war. The foundation serves the Gold Star community while honoring SEAL Team Six member PO1 Michael Strange. To learn more about the Michael Strange Foundation, visit https://michaelstrange.foundation
